THE CLIMB

January 07, 2020

Oh, where to begin? I think the best part about not planning a trip is all the amazing adventures that you can find that are just around the corner. When you plan an event to the last detail you end up missing out opportunities because you try your hardest to stick to it.

This trip was the first time traveling in japan all by myself, so I could do something that wasn't the norm. When I got off the train, I immediately turned around from the city of Hiroshima and started walking without purpose... Well actually that is a lie, I had to go to this camera store so I could quickly buy something. After that, I did turn around and started walking to this shrine that I heard of. it was a pretty cool shrine. you first had to go through huge torii (this Japanese gate) and then climb up these stairs that felt like they wouldn't end. Which doesn't look difficult now after what is coming up next. Anyway, I was able to take some photos in the shrine but unfortunately, most of them didn't turn out well.

When I had my fill of exploring, I saw that there was this little trail leading up the mountain. I was thrilled and just had to go! The only problem with that trail is that it kept on going up and up. I truly believe that the trail did not have and end. it started nice with some very decorative shrines and small torris, but the further you when in the forest the further the stairs got steeper and longer each time you had to turn to go the other way. When I thought I reached the top I took a beautiful landscape photo of all of Hiroshima.i learned that sometimes the best thing you could do in photography is to let go of your camera and just took it all in, and so I did. it's quite peaceful, just being able to be one with that moment.

When I reached the top there was this old WWII fort that unfortunately, most of it was destroyed from the bomb that was dropped. it's amazing how far Hiroshima has come formed destruction. Well, that is pretty much it after | looked around I took the wonderful journey back down to the city. I learned that day that my stay in Japan will be a lot more exciting when I just get up and go explore.
